AstraZeneca Files Lawsuits Over Crestor

CNN Money reports today, December 12, 2007:

AstraZeneca PLC said Wednesday it filed patent infringement lawsuits against seven generic drugmakers that have submitted so-called abbreviated new drug applications for the company's blockbuster cholesterol treatment Crestor.

The lawsuits were filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware against Cobalt, Aurobindo Pharma, Apotex, Par Pharmaceutical, Sandoz, Mylan Pharmaceuticals and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries.

AstraZeneca said it is also looking into possible patent infringements by Teva Pharmaceuticals and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.
